Buy One Get One Free Flight Ticket

Buying airline tickets and getting another one free is practically unheard of – but here is one of those rare days when this is exactly what is happening. Yesterday I got a mail from Singapore Airlines with an amazing offer to buy a return ticket on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir and get not one but TWO free tickets on Vistara airways.

The deal is pretty straight forward – you need to buy a return ticket on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir, on any class, even economy class (but not a saver fare – either the standard fare or flexi fare). Once booked, you email them and they send you redemption codes for two flights with Vistara airways for the same class. So if you fly business class on Singapore airlines, you get business class redemption on Vistara airlines. They will also throw in an additional $20 shopping voucher, to be used at the Changi airport. It just doesn’t get better.

To me this seems a no brainer, especially if you have travel plans to Singapore any time before 30th April. Most airlines offer additional miles for booking return fares (like the one Jet Airways is doing currently), but I would value this offer much more. Miles comes with their own set of restrictions and are always prone to devaluation. A free ticket is simply a free ticket. And free business class tickets are just too good an offer.
My feeling is that given how the domestic market competition is heating up in India, this is a clever ploy to push passengers to try Vistara. I haven’t had a chance to travel Vistara yet, but the reviews I have heard are reminiscent of early Kingfisher days, especially with regards to the onboard service. Jet Airways has also been aggressively pushing their sales with huge bonus miles offer for international return tickets booked on their site while Air India, the other full service airline of India has also been pushing their miles redemption and their Star Alliance connections to the hilt. But all said and done, this offer by SQ & Vistara takes wins this round for sure.
Word of caution – always read the terms and conditions once, before you book your tickets.
